? Medication During the School Day
At times, children may need to take medication during the school day. This may be due to a short-term illness (such as antibiotics following a recent infection), or a long-term condition such as asthma, allergies, or other health needs.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child, we require a completed “Permission to Dispense Medication” form before we are able to administer any medication. This applies to all prescribed medications, including asthma inhalers, antibiotics, and any other treatment prescribed by a medical professional.
You can download the form below and return it to the school office. The information you provide helps our staff administer medication safely and with care.
- Name of medication: Please state the name exactly as it appears on the prescription label or original packaging.
- Dosage: Include the precise amount to be administered (e.g. 5ml, one tablet).
- Timing: Let us know when the medication should be given. We aim to administer medicine during playtime or lunchtime where possible, to avoid disruption to learning.
- Storage: Please indicate whether the medication needs to be stored in the fridge or handled in a specific way.
- Precautions: Inform us of any special instructions, such as the need to wear gloves or avoid exposure to sunlight.
If your child has any ongoing health conditions — such as diabetes, asthma, eczema, or anything else that may affect their daily routine — please let the school office know. This allows us to work with teachers and staff to ensure your child’s needs are supported throughout the school day.
For example, if your child needs to drink water regularly due to a medical reason, our staff can help remind and encourage them. We are here to support every child’s physical and emotional wellbeing — your children are at the core of everything we do.
