SEND

At Morden Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is valued, supported and celebrated for who they are. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils — regardless of their individual learning needs or disabilities — can thrive and succeed in our school community.

Our Inclusive Approach

In line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice 2015, we are dedicated to identifying and meeting the needs of all children as early as possible. We believe that inclusion is not just about access, but about meaningful participation and achievement for all.

Class teachers work closely with senior leaders and our Inclusion Team to continually monitor pupil progress and well-being. We use a range of approaches to adapt provision and personalise learning. These may include:

  • In-class support through scaffolding, modelling and adaptive teaching strategies
  • We use Merton's Ordinarily Available guidance to help support children in class.
  • Targeted interventions in small groups or 1:1 sessions
  • Carefully designed questioning and challenge to promote independence and progress
  • Use of visual, practical and sensory resources to meet varied learning styles
  • Collaboration with families and professionals to ensure a joined-up approach

Working in Partnership

We recognise that parents are the experts on their child. We work closely with families to understand their child’s strengths and areas of need. Regular review meetings, open communication and shared decision-making are all essential to the support we offer.

Our Inclusion Manager, Mr Carrington, is always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss any concerns about additional needs or to explain the support available at school. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the school office.

Our SEND Provision

We support children with a wide range of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Communication and Interaction (e.g. speech and language difficulties, Autism Spectrum Conditions)
  • Cognition and Learning (e.g. dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (e.g. ADHD, anxiety)
  • Sensory and/or Physical Needs (e.g. visual or hearing impairments, physical disabilities)

Every child’s support plan is personalised and reviewed regularly to ensure it is effective and appropriate to their current stage of development.

The School Offer

Our School SEND Information Report (known as the ‘School Offer’) outlines the range of support we provide and how we work with children and families. It includes details on identification, interventions, external agency partnerships and how we promote inclusive learning for all.
